Maven vs Shelton Benjamin for IC title.

Maven came out with a look of intensity and it wasn’t long before Maven and Benjamin locked eyes. After the two locked up for the first time, Maven was quick to slide away and complain to the ref which then resulted in Maven getting out of the ring and drawing some mega heat from the crowd. Maven got so incensed with the crowd that he grabbed a microphone and told the ref who was administrating the standard 10 count to “stop counting for 1 minute!”

Maven proceeded to draw heat out of Puerto Rican crowd as he wondered whether they spoke any English because he couldn’t understand what they were saying. A “you’re gay” chant soon followed and Maven told a guy at the front row to “tell your friends to shut up!” Shelton was getting agitated and chased Maven away. The ref then started to count and got up to 7 and Maven raced back into the ring only to be rolled up and pinned by Benjamin!

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Maven then quickly got back on the mic and told Shelton… “That didn’t count!” Shelton wanted to know why and Maven told him that he wasn’t ready. Shelton was walking off when Maven said that “there are 2 women’s champions in the WWE because neither he nor Trish have juevos!”
Benjamin then raced back into the ring and hit the T-bone suplex on Maven for the 3 count.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin.

My thoughts:

First and foremost I want to comment on Maven’s mic work which is unbelievable! He worked the crowd over and really hit them where it hurt! The match (what match) was disappointing but I think this was the foundation for the feud… I think Maven will ask for a rematch which will take place at the Royal Rumble.

All in all this was neither Maven nor Benjamin’s fault… this is on the WWE. Maven did his best with the mic which lit the house on fire but besides that, I’m disappointed but I also see the bigger picture!
